Swaminarayan Akshardham in Delhi is among the largest and most impressive modern Hindu temple complexes in India. Dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, it’s famous for its grand architecture, peaceful atmosphere, gardens, and cultural exhibitions.

The entry to the temple complex is free, so you can visit the main temple area and enjoy most of the campus without any ticket. However, some attractions are paid:

Akshardham follows strict security and dress rules:
A cloakroom is available to deposit restricted items. If you’re not wearing the required dress code, a sarong/wrap cloth is provided to cover up with a minimal deposit.

Akshardham is around 950 meters from Akshardham Metro Station and is easily reachable by walking. Parking is also available. Inside the complex, you’ll find a food court, book stalls, and a souvenir store. Plus, many food outlets are available at Akshardham Metro Station as well, which is useful if you want to eat before entering.

Akshardham is open from Tuesday to Sunday and remains closed on Mondays. The complex entry timing is 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, while Mandir Darshan runs from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The Aarti is held at 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM, the exhibition ticket window is open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the water show happens after sunset.
Swaminarayan (1781–1830) was a Hindu spiritual leader and the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. His teachings focused on devotion to God, moral discipline, self-control, honesty, non-violence, and service to society, inspiring a major spiritual movement that continues today.
