National War Memorial

If you are visiting India Gate in New Delhi, you will notice a beautifully designed space nearby that feels calm and respectful. This is the National War Memorial. It was built to remember Indian soldiers who gave their lives in service to the country after independence. The memorial was dedicated to the nation in February 2019.

The entire complex is spread over a large open area and follows a circular layout. At the center stands a tall stone pillar, and around it are four circular sections arranged one inside another. Each section carries symbolic meaning connected to bravery, sacrifice, protection, and the eternal spirit of the soldiers. One part holds an ever-burning flame, another displays battle scenes in bronze artwork, and another bears the engraved names of thousands of soldiers who lost their lives.
